Mosiah 7

7.2,3,4 – “up” (IC) – A person travels “down” to Zarahemla and “up” to the land of Nephi. See here for a list of examples.

7.4,5 – “wilderness” (IC) – The wilderness between Zarahemla and the land of Nephi is mentioned many times. See here for a list of examples.

7.10 – with my guards without the gate The king’s refusal to leave the city without his guards is mentioned again in Mosiah 21:19, along with more context about the pressures his people faced at that time.

7.14 – I know of a surety that my brethren who were in the land of Zarahemla are yet alive The king came to believe his brethren in Zarahemla were dead because of the failed excursion to find Zarahemla described in Mosiah 21:25-26.

7.26 – “a prophet of the Lord have they slain” This prophet is Abinadi, who has not yet been mentioned by name (and won’t be until Mosiah 11:20).

7.27 – Limhi summarizes some specific teaching of Abinadi which are included in later chapters. Compare “Christ was the God, the Father of all things” with Mosiah 15:2-4. Compare “he should take upon him the image of man” with Mosiah 13:34. See here.

7.29 – shall be as a stumbling block (CS) This article discusses how Christ is both a foundation stone and a stumbling block, depending on the path one travels. Compare Isaiah 8.13-15; 1 Peter 2.4-8.

7.31 – “they shall reap the east wind” Limhi is referring to the words of Abinadi. Compare Mosiah 12:6.
