17.3 – “provide means” These words are a possible allusion to Abraham, see Genesis 22:8. See this article for additional possible allusions to Abraham in this chapter.

17.13 – “…light…the way…keep my commandments…promised land” The covenant connotations are perhaps obvious, but further contextualized in this article, and the series of which it is part.

17.14 – “I did bring you out of the land of Jerusalem” Nephi uses phrases like this to directly compare his family’s journey to the Exodus narrative. Compare verse 40. Other examples are documented in this article.

17.48-59 – “whoso shall lay his hands upon me shall wither even as a dried reed” Nephi engages in a wordplay based on the Hebrew ‘yabash’. See this article for for more information.
