8.10 – a tree, whose fruit was desirable to make one happy This wording is very similar to the description of Eve and the tree of knowledge of good and evil in Genesis 3:6. See article on ‘wisdom’ and ‘joy’ here.

8.11 – the fruit thereof was white, to exceed all the whiteness that I had ever seen. According to a non-LDS biblical scholar, this description of the fruit of the tree of life is unique to the Book of Mormon and very ancient sources.

8.19 – a rod of iron…led to the tree According to a non-LDS biblical scholar, this description of the rod of iron is consistent with the original understanding of the word ‘rod.’

8.30 – “until they came forth and fell down and partook of the fruit of the tree“. The curious use of “fell down” in this phrase may be indicating an act of worship. See this post for details.
